The Story Behind the Book

A lifelong lover of sweets, Caitlin spent her early years making cheesecakes, mousses, and elaborate multi-course meals and desserts in the kitchen of her first love's mother. Thirty years later, this book is her answer to the question that followed: how do we create desserts that are both decadent and deeply nourishing?

Every recipe passed through The Cake Salon first.

Before finding its way into the book, each cake was shared around a table of women, tasted slowly, photographed in afternoon light, and refined through gathering, conversation, flowers, and celebration.
